ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Financial Controller & Regulatory Reporting Officer to join our Gibraltar office. This is a hands-on role with broad ownership: you will be the primary finance lead for GIB's P&L, balance sheet and regulatory reporting under DLT license to the FSC, and will additionally oversee the financial operations of ARQ UK, a cost centre within the group together with ownership of the reconciliation process of ARQ Globals financial and ledger accounts.
Reporting directly to the Group Controller, you will act as the financial backbone of two entities, ensuring integrity in reporting, compliance with local requirements, and tight control over costs. This role is ideal for a finance professional who thrives in a lean, high-ownership environment and is comfortable working across jurisdictions.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Financial Control & Reporting:
- Own the month-end close process for GIB, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards (IFRS).
- Review and maintain the P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements on a monthly basis.
- Maintain a robust chart of accounts and ensure proper classification of all transactions.
- Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations between GIB and other group entities in line with our Transfer Pricing Policy.
- Support the preparation of statutory accounts and liaise with external auditors.
- Ensure compliance with local regulatory reporting requirements for the Gibraltar Company.
Cost Centre Oversight:
- Oversee the financial operations of ARQ UK as a cost centre, including monthly cost review and variance analysis.
- Ensure all ARQ UK costs are correctly allocated, accrued, and reported in line with group policies.
- Monitor budgets versus actuals for ARQ UK and escalate material variances to the Group Financial Controller.
- Coordinate with local stakeholders in the UK to gather financial data and validate reporting accuracy.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Contribute to the annual budgeting process for GIB and ARQ UK, working closely with the Group Financial Controller.
- Prepare rolling forecasts and provide commentary on financial performance drivers.
- Develop financial models to support business decisions and scenario planning.
Controls & Compliance:
- Design, implement, and maintain robust internal controls for both GIB and ARQ UK.
- Ensure adherence to group accounting policies and flag any deviations or exceptions.
- Serve as the primary point of contact with the outsourced accounting provider, coordinating and reviewing the preparation and delivery of financial statements and periodic financial reports for GIB and ARQ UK.
- Ensure the accurate calculation, provisioning, and timely payment of all applicable taxes for both entities, working in close collaboration with external tax advisors.
- Monitor and ensure full compliance with the regulatory requirements of Gibraltar and the United Kingdom, keeping abreast of changes in local legislation and promptly escalating any compliance risks to the Group Controller.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
- 5+ years of relevant experience in financial control, accounting, or audit roles.
- Proven track record of owning month-end close and preparing statutory-quality financial statements.
- Experience working in or with regulated financial services entities.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS or UK GAAP.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Advanced proficiency in spreadsheet tools (Excel or Google Sheets); comfortable with complex financial models and SQL
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a lean team environment.
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience with multi-entity or multi-jurisdiction accounting environments.
- Experience with Gibraltar and/or UK regulatory reporting frameworks.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g. NetSuite, SAP, or similar).
