You will:
- Own inference pricing economics end to end: build and maintain the financial models that connect token economics, inference and compute costs, and margin to pricing, packaging, and tiering decisions across Glean’s models and consumption offerings.
- Drive billing operations end to end: operate and improve the billing systems that translate pricing into invoiced revenue, ensuring provisioning, credits, overage, and reconciliation are accurate and scalable across consumption and hosted customers.
- Serve as the deep-dive pricing partner on complex, technically nuanced deals, modeling specific usage and product-feature scenarios and turning that analysis into clear, opinionated recommendations.
- Partner cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and GTM to evaluate pricing and packaging changes, new model launches, and consumption-based offerings, and to ensure billing behavior stays aligned as products ship.
- Analyze the drivers of unit economics and gross margin, surfacing the trends, risks, and opportunities that should inform pricing and monetization strategy.
- Build the operating backbone for pricing and billing — the documentation, controls, and automation that let these systems run without depending on any one person.
- Collaborate with Finance, FP&A, and Accounting counterparts to ensure pricing and billing decisions are consistent with broader financial strategy and reporting.
- A background in investment banking, private equity, management consulting, strategic finance, product finance, venture capital, or a comparably analytically rigorous role
- Strong proficiency in spreadsheet-based financial modeling, with the ability to build and maintain complex operating models from the ground up — and genuine enjoyment of the craft
- Demonstrated ability to take full ownership of a workstream and drive it independently from question to decision
- Comfort operating in systems and data, not just spreadsheets — you'll get into a billing configuration, a usage dashboard, or a SQL query to verify behavior rather than assume it
- The judgment and conviction to form an opinion and defend it, paired with the openness to update it as the analysis evolves
- A genuine, current interest in AI — you follow the field and have a perspective on where model and compute economics are heading
- Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-finance audiences
- Preferred: direct experience owning pricing, packaging, or monetization strategy — setting or revising prices, designing tiering and packaging, or measuring the impact of pricing changes.
- Preferred: experience with usage-based, API, or developer-platform pricing, or other consumption-based business models.
- Preferred: hands-on experience with a usage-based billing platform such as Orb, Metronome, or Stripe Billing, or equivalent billing operations experience.
- This role is hybrid (4 days a week in our San Francisco office)
