You will
- Own and evolve a multi-language build system, improving hermeticity, reproducibility, dependency management, and developer usability.
- Design and operate CI/CD infrastructure that makes builds and tests faster, more reliable, and more cost-efficient at scale.
- Diagnose and eliminate sources of CI friction, including flaky tests, slow feedback loops, and difficult local development workflows.
- Build developer tools that improve onboarding, debugging, code review, and everyday engineering productivity.
- Lead practical adoption of AI coding assistants and agentic workflows, measuring usage and impact rather than simply introducing new tools.
- Partner with engineers across the company to identify bottlenecks, prioritize improvements, and demonstrate measurable results.
About you
- Strong software engineering background in Java, Go, Python, or a similar language.
- Meaningful ownership of build systems, CI/CD infrastructure, or developer productivity tooling. Bazel experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience operating distributed build or test environments, with familiarity in Kubernetes or cloud infrastructure.
- Strong debugging skills and a track record of improving engineering workflows.
- Experience enabling AI developer tools is a plus, particularly when paired with evidence of adoption or productivity impact.
- This role is hybrid (4 days a week in our Mountain View office)
