Gitcoin Grants (GG rounds)
Numbered, dated grant rounds you apply into; matching funds are pooled from partners and allocated per-domain by mechanisms chosen by that domain's allocator.
What you get
Can you apply
Eligibility criteria varied by domain and mechanism, reflecting the decentralized allocator model. Baseline requirements applied across all domains: Open-source projects contributing to public goods; Active development and verifiable team; Alignment with domain-specific problem areas

What Gitcoin funds
Runs numbered, dated grant rounds (the GG series) that pool matching funds from partners and allocate them to open-source public goods across the Ethereum ecosystem. Since GG24 the model is plural: independent domain allocators pick the allocation mechanism, from quadratic funding to conviction voting to retroactive rewards.
Everything Gitcoin funds →Details
Quadratic funding has historically been the primary mechanism: "The number of contributions matters more than the amount funded." GG24, the first "Gitcoin 3.0" round, replaced the single-mechanism model with six domains, each with its own allocator, budget and mechanism, chosen from "quadratic funding, deep funding, MACI private voting, conviction voting, retroactive funding, and peer-reviewed hypercerts". Modelled here as windowed rather than retroactive: even the domains that allocated retrospectively (Public Goods R&D and Targeted Development, via Karma and Silvi) required applications inside the round's dated application window. Two GG24 domain sub-programmes published per-project figures: the Solutions Development Grants Program approved 19 projects with "grants ranging $2.5K-$20K", and ten projects hit the $10K quadratic-funding matching cap in the Dev Tooling round. Gitcoin states the programme has "run quarterly since 2019" and has distributed "$50,000,000+" toward public goods across 3,715 projects. Grants Stack, Gitcoin's own round infrastructure, was sunset in May 2025; QF now runs on Giveth and other mechanism-specific platforms.
