Can you apply
Single entities (start-ups, SMEs, research organisations) or consortia of 2 to 5 independent legal entities from Member States or Associated Countries. Larger companies not qualifying as SMEs cannot apply as sole applicants. Proposals must build on results from eligible projects already achieving experimental proof of concept (TRL 3 completed) or technology validated in the lab level (TRL 4).

The European Innovation Council is Horizon Europe's deep tech arm, funding everything from early-stage research consortia (Pathfinder) through proof-of-concept maturation (Transition) to grant-plus-equity scale-up finance for single startups and SMEs (Accelerator). Open to any field of technology, including AI and software.

EIC Transition takes results that have reached experimental proof of concept (TRL 3 completed) or technology validated in the lab (TRL 4) and matures them towards market. Awardees can additionally access Booster grants of up to EUR 50,000. The overall 2026 budget is EUR 100 million.
