Projects that are personal and limited in community impact, and existing efforts that would not see significant incremental benefit from a small grant, are generally not supported.

Details

Chapters are the granting unit: 69 active chapters across Armenia, Australia, Canada, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Qatar, Singapore, the United Kingdom, the United States and Uzbekistan, plus four worldwide thematic chapters (Conservation and Climate, Disability, Dragon Dreaming, On the Water). Most chapters prefer projects that benefit their own community; applicants with no local chapter can select "Any" on the form or apply to a thematic chapter, which is why countries is null rather than a country list. Most chapters meet monthly to decide, some at public pitch events, and carry unsuccessful applications over to later months. Amounts are in USD or the local equivalent.
